Storytime for Palestine

Mon 14 July | 10am-12pm | FREE

Hosted by Zawe Ashton, bring your little ones for a nurturing morning of meaningful storytelling at Storytime for Palestine – a free gathering designed to foster hope and empathy through the magic of storytelling. Through tales of resilience, culture, and community, we can cultivate a sense of collective consciousness at this time in our world.

Parents and caregivers, let’s come together to help our children connect with those little ones whose voices are most vulnerable and celebrate the right of every child to dream. We warmly welcome all faiths in this space.

Please note there will be free breakfast options with allergy sensitivity provided. Plus tea, coffee and water. The event is suitable for 0-6 year olds however, older siblings are welcome as conscious caregivers.

Help Hackney Showroom raise £10K to keep thriving

Hackney Showroom is turning 10 in April and, for our birthday celebrations, we’re launching a fundraising raffle to raise £10,000 for our charity to support artists and make award-winning theatre.

Although we work year-round to raise funds for our vital work, the funding situation has never been more nail-biting. So this is where we need you.

BUY YOUR RAFFLE TICKETS FOR A CHANCE TO WIN SOME INCREDIBLE PRIZES!

How will this help?

Each entry will help us get closer towards our target of £10,000. With this money we can keep striving to change the course of artists’ futures by nourishing the careers of some extraordinarily talented freelance theatre artists and forging new careers for the outstanding young people we train.

In the last 12 months alone we have:

  • Offered 550 hours of free studio space to artists in our building
  • Given £110K worth of paid work to over 100 freelance artists
  • Trained 16 young theatre makers from working class/low-income backgrounds
  • Supported 12 artists on their new projects
  • Commissioned three artists

In the next 12 months we will:

  • Produce the premiere of our latest Hackney Showroom production at an exciting new location
  • Tour our award-winning show THE LEGENDS OF THEM to five cities across the UK
  • Audition and recruit a new cohort of Hackney Showroom Young Artists
  • Continue the development of four innovative new theatre shows
  • Commission three new artists

It’s extremely tough for everyone right now and we appreciate each and every entry into our raffle. It’s an especially precarious time for freelancers and your contribution will help us continue to sustain freelance artists’ careers.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
