2 – 5 August | Wilderness Festival | Cornbury Park, Oxford
Hackney Showroom are hosting our very own Arts programme at Wilderness Fest this August! We’re presenting work from 2 of the most exciting new voices in theatre (in our humble opinion, that is.)
Travis Alabanza is an associate artists at Hackney Showroom and is a performer, writer and theatre maker. In the last two years they have been noted by numerous publications, such as ARTSY, ID AND MOBO AWARDS as one of the most prominent emerging queer artistic voices, and also listed in OUT as an influential queer figure. In 2016/17 they became an artist in residence at the Tate workshop programme, starred in Scottee’s theatre production ‘putting words in your mouth’ and the Royal Exchange and Lyric Hammersmith show Jubilee, performed in venues such as V&A, Tate, ICA, the Roundhouse and Barbican – and had their work featured in The Guardian, BBC, Huck Magazine.
Lucy McCormick is an associate artist at Hackney Showroom and is an actor/performer whose hit show TRIPLE THREAT, took the Edinburgh Fringe by storm and had a sell-out run at the Soho Theatre in March, April and December of 2017. TRIPLE THREAT showed post-popular prodigy Lucy McCormick and her Girl Squad presenting a provocative, subversive cabaret retelling of the greatest story of all time. Lucy has been nominated for the TBC Award at the 2018 Off West End (Offie) Awards for TRIPLE THREAT. Lucy played the lead role in the Soho Theatre’s production, ROLLER DINER, in May and June of 2017. Lucy was nominated for Emerging Artist at the Total Theatre Awards and was the winner of the TV Bomb Groundbreaker Award. She has recently been announced as a 2017 Artist in Residence for the Royal Vauxhall Tavern’s Duckie nights and is a Research Fellow in the Department of English Drama at Queen Mary University London.
