Deconstructing Blackness squ
Hackney Showroom’s Young Resident Company, The Sargeant & Kavuma Project are an ambitious new theatre company founded by two young cultural entrepreneurs, Steven Kavuma and Malakai Sargeant.

With a mission to make art for everyone, S&K produce theatre, deliver workshops, curate festivals and represent young, up and coming actors with the S&K Agency.

Deconstructing Blackness was conceived by Malakai to explore the question ‘why isn’t every month Black History Month’? As part of this exploration S&K have spent October delivering performance and writing workshops in schools across north and east London around the theme ‘deconstructing blackness’.

This evening’s entertainment is the culmination of these workshops, bringing together the work created by school students alongside work from S&K artists. From monologue, song to spoken word, there is something here for everyone.
