Gentleness of a Little Giant

Mon 14 – Fri 18 Feb | 10am-1.30pm | 5-8s | Free

A week-long half-term creative project for young artists aged 5-8 exploring nature, memory and landscapes through Art, DIY Shadow Theatre and Gigantic Sculptures.

Are you curious about the amazing stories that our older neighbours might have to share? They have lived loooooooooong lives! Let’s explore together their memories and stories and see where it takes us…

Mixing art, drawing and collage with drama and storytelling, Gentleness of a Little Giant is a creative week crammed with arty fun, culminating in some home-made shadow theatre storytelling and large-scale landscape sculptures. It will develop your inspiring ideas about the unique ways you see the world and your community around you.

To sign-up, you must be able to attend all 5 sessions Monday to Friday 10am–1.30pm. Lunch is included. The Tuesday session will be an off-site nature exploration with local cafe visit for lunch.

There will be a relaxed sharing of the weeks work with parents, residents and friends on Friday 18th February at 12 noon.

This ongoing project is delivered by resident and local artist Andrew Mitchelson with Brazilian artist Gustavo Ciriaco (Lisbon). It continues a pilot project delivered in partnership with the Kings Crescent Tenant & Resident Association (with financial assistance from Hackney Council’s Community Development Fund).

Supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
