5 October | 7pm | £8 General Admission £10 On the Door | Big Space & Studio
F U T U R E R I T U A L is a performance platform for radical queer artists + audiences interested in ritual, myth, magic + mysticism to come together, to resist marginalisation, to challenge decency, to protest, to process and to dream us forward…we work with artists who push boundaries, who take risks, who celebrate aberrance, difference and subversion
Artists: Anni Movsisyan, Alicia Radage, Eunjung Kim, Hellen Burrough, Joseph Morgan Schofield
F U T U R E R I T U A L is troubled by the ways in which capitalism has replaced communing with transaction, how the closure + privatisation of space drives community online + how online forums have given a platform to a new generation of the racist right who are appropriating occultist practices, so F U T U R E R I T U A L provides a space to reclaim these practices, to present them irl, unmediated by screens.
Durational work begins at 7pm, with shorter works starting at 7.45pm. Audience members are welcome to drop in and out of the event and move between the different performances. More info about the work will be shared on facebook in the lead up to the event.
F U T U R E R I T U A L is run by queers – we are committed to challenging homophobia, transphobia, racism, classism + ableism + we are committed to providing a space outside of normative structures.
F U T U R E R I T U A L is an artist led initiative by Joseph Morgan Schofield + Thomas Yeomans.
This event is supported by Hackney Showroom and by Arts Council England.
