16 June | Showroom Big Space | 7.30pm | £8/£10
The Vagina Museum presents a night of stand-up comedy all about vaginas, vulvas, muffs, love buttons and vertical smiles, headlined by Sarah Bennetto.
Providing comedic delights are comedians Sophie Duker, who as co-host of Manic Pixie Dream Girls was “smashing the heteronormative patriarchy one show at a time”; Cerys Bradley who hopes you love the history of vagitarianism quite as much as they do; Aimee Eckert who unites together science and burlesque like a sexy Large Hadron Collider; Bisha K Ali, who promises she doesn’t bite, unless you’re an eclair, in which case it’s really your own fault; Hannah Brady, who hopes you’ll hear her because she doesn’t hear much and Dorian Wainwright, a straight white guy just to fulfil our diversity quota, plus more to be announced.
Headlining the show is Sarah Bennetto – expect stand-up and character curios by the Melbourne-born, London-based comedian. Sarah has appeared on BBC Radio 4, Sarah Bennetto’s Mix-Tape, Storytellers’ Club, Global Pillage, all the great comedy podcast panel shows, and Glastonbury backstage radio.
“Superb. Devastating. Edges towards perfection.” ThreeWeeks
Starting life as a series of gigs, talks and workshops, the Vagina Museum’s ultimate goal is a permanent collection showcasing the science, history, society and culture of vaginas, combined with a community outreach programme. And a really great gift shop, of course. With vagina cake.
